Stripe Connect donations stuck in “Processing” status

    I have Stripe connected via Stripe Connect (not manual API keys). A few donations were stuck in “Processing” status even though I confirmed on Stripe’s side that the charges succeeded. I checked my Stripe dashboard’s Webhooks page and found no manually configured endpoint there, I believe this may be normal for Connect integrations where GiveWP handles the event relay on its platform side, but I want to confirm.

    Can someone explain how Stripe Connect events get relayed back to a site using GiveWP, and what I should check if donations are landing in “Processing” instead of “Completed”? I manually corrected the stuck donations for now, but want to understand the cause in case it happens again.

    Site is running the latest version of GiveWP with Stripe – Payment Element as the connected gateway.

    Hello Bryan,

    Glad you reached out, happy to help!

    To have your Stripe account communicate successfully with your GiveWP website, you will need to create that webhook. Also note, if you use Stripe in testing mode, that needs it’s own webhook create as well.

    To solve this, we have a screencast that covers creating the Stripe webhook process in detail.

    You’ll be connecting the 8 “events” in the webhook below that I’ve listed in alphabetical order:

    • charge.refunded
    • checkout.session.completed
    • customer.subscription.created
    • customer.subscription.deleted
    • invoice.payment_failed
    • invoice.payment_succeeded
    • payment_intent.succeeded
    • payment_intent.payment_failed

    After that, the next Stripe donation will populate the Last webhook received entry the current date/time in GiveWP > Settings > Payment Gateways – Stripe – General Settings – Stripe Webhooks as seen in this example below:

    If that checks out you are good to go for new donations that arrive post-webhook creation.

    You will, however, have to change any existing donations with the Processing status to a Complete status manually by clicking to edit on the donation. Use your Stripe transactions as a guide when doing so to ensure all payments were successful.
