• Hi, Since nov 20th none of my post pages are showing up in google, when I say post pages I mean the page you arrive at when you click on the title of a post from my main index. The front pages shows up fine when searching for a title, however, the post pages have since stopped. I am using “all In One SEO”. Does anyone know why this would have occurred or more importantly, how to get them coming up again?

    Thanks

  • Your posts have blank meta descriptions with lots of odd whitespace (not shown below):

    <meta name="description" content="" />

    Something is set wrong with your SEO plugin. Google does not like empty meta descriptions or duplicate ones, and yours are both because they are all empty. It’s best to have either unique meta descriptions or no meta description tags.

    BTW, I deactivated the SEO thing and same thing happening.

    This is the problem (I thought the plugin was doing it):

    <meta name="description" content="<?php echo strip_tags(get_the_excerpt()); ?>" />

    Remove this entirely and try the SEO plugin again or try a different one. I use Head META Description myself.

    hey and thanks for the help!! I grabbed that META Description and installed it, Do I use it with ‘all in one SEO’ or instead of it? Do you see the problem go away? google still is not showing my posts only my main page.

    Use only one meta description plugin at a time so that they don’t conflict. Your meta descriptions are currently showing up and they look good… However, your site is generating 500 server errors on the first load of a page for me. The second load of the page works fine. I don’t know what would be causing this, but I would suspect:

    • A bad plugin, especially a caching or rewrite plugin
    • Errors in your .htaccess file
    • Web host server problems

    hey man, are you still getting that 500
    ?
    thanks!

    I don’t see the 500 errors anymore.

    hey man, I been battling to figure out this google thing for days.

    I have the custom search on my site and can’t even get my own search results using google custom search. Can you please have a look? also are you seeing my latest posts in google? I can’t even find those.

    I do see some pages from your site in a Google search for: site:thecount.com

    You are using page2rss.com for your feed, and I noticed that it doesn’t seem to be current (the most recent items are from a day ago). Google uses feeds to quickly discover new posts and index them, and delayed feeds may be slowing this down.

    In general, to increase your proportion of indexed pages, you need time and to increase your PageRank by acquiring more incoming links. Unless a site is small or has a high PageRank, Google will usually not index every page.
