Hi,
This following code is added to where? Could you give us a screenshot? Thank you. π
Thanks for the reply. That’s added to the post. You only see it in text view.
Here’s a link to a screen shot:

Try to disable all the plugins and see if a plugin is causing this issue. π
I tried it with every plugin one by one (except Jetpack and Akismet) and none of them seemed to be the cause. I only have 6 plugins.
Could you activate a default theme, such as Twenty Sixteen, and see if that happens? Also it happens on just posts, or pages as well?
I’m using a twenty sixteen child. The blog is http://oldaintdead.com/
I’m beginning to think it’s Firefox. When I open those posts in Opera, I don’t get that span. I opened the one I published today (http://oldaintdead.com/review-begin-again/) using Firefox but I edited it in Opera. The span code was in there when I opened it in Opera, but when I took it out and hit Update, it stayed out.
I’m going to work on the blog in Opera for now and hope an update to Firefox or something else resolves that Save Draft issue.
Did you check if you’re using the latest version of Firefox? π
I think it is. I have it on auto update. I did shut it down and restart it just in case. I was using Opera for several weeks and went to Firefox because of some issues in Opera. (Videos don’t always play in Opera. Pinterest button won’t work.) That’s when the strange span started appearing.
It a way, it’s harmless. Nothing shows up in the Visual pane and nothing shows up in the browser. But something is wrong and I’d like to figure it out.
I’m wondering if I should reinstall WP, even tho I have the latest version.
I am getting the same thing, using Firefox. At first I thought it came from another admin’s editing, but is happening with my editing as well.
It seems like it is happening each time I switch between the visual and text tabs, another copy of that line of code gets added each time.
I still haven’t figured out what’s causing it.
Hi,
It could be an issue with one of your browser extensions, so if you’re using a Pinterest extension on your Firefox then please disable it. Let me know if it works. π
I do have a Pinterest bookmarklet in Firefox that I need and use regularly. I’ve been using WordPress in Opera β where Pinterest bookmarklets don’t work β since this issue started.
I just opened up Firefox and edited something. It’s still adding the same span on “Save Draft” but only when working in the visual pane. In the text pane, it isn’t added.
I really need that Pinterest button in Firefox (or somewhere), so my workaround for now is to use WordPress only in Opera.
Should this issue be reported to Pinterest, Mozilla, or both? I’m not sure how to do that.
Yes, disabling that Pinterest Pin-it Button extension cleared it up for me. Thank you, Hardeep!
vdebolt – you should try to install a third party extension on Firefox and it should work.
Anita – Glad to be of help. π
