we’re currently having problems with twitter cards for our site where the twitter:title meta tag is being replaced for some reason when being pulled by Twitterbot. upon checking our site, i found this strange folder in wp-includes/images

    wp-includes/images/cache669c54f0e09104595f67a7043c1b8db9

i have no idea what it is. I tried deleting it but it gets recreated every time.

has anyone seen this before? i couldn’t decipher the contents. here is a link of the contents

    http://www.filehosting.org/file/details/751114/check_folder.zip

it was suggested to us that we could have a malware somewhere inserting something when being fetched by twitter bot. not sure if this is the one but it would help shed light on some issues if we could determine what this is

    thanks

Use wordfence plugin to scan your site: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wordfence/

    hi

we asked for assistance from our web hosting provider that from the scan, there was no malware. just to confirm, this is not a wordpress core folder correct?

    thanks

No – I just looked at wp-includes/images/ in a fresh download of WP 4.9.7
