• Hey,

I have a site that takes an eternity to load.
I’m with a popular and reputable host in the UK, so I doubt it’s them. Although some of the images are not very well compressed(a side-issue).

I’m using WP 2.5.1 and store all my images in the ‘www.something.com/images’ folder, even for all my WP pages.

Could this be slowing things down in my WP site.

    Should I link all my images and CSS, so it’s like : <img src="www.something.com/wp-content/themes/some/images/test.jpg" /> ?

So does this mean I should do the same with my CSS style sheet too, so it doesn’t have to access different directories across my site?

I’m happy to provide a link to show how sloooooow it can be 🙁

  • your site will work without them, but I’d suggest you don’t need to remove them, except in the case that you really *want* to, I thought for some reason you really wanted to.

I don’t think it’s worth hacking out though. There’s lightening, and then there’s going overboard…

I’m sure you can probably switch that stuff off with a filter… but since I don’t know how precisely, I’m gonna say leave it, or try your luck googling it.

Nah you’re right. Best not to hack it.

I might look about and see if someone has done anything similar with CSS to what I’m after. Not sure it’ll make a huge difference in the great way of things.

Thanks for your help once more, have learned a great deal. Cheers!

    Cheers to you.

Be careful of the css rounded corners thing… cross-browser compatibility involves lots of extra markup… when typing it out, count every keypress and add it to the size of the image you just trimmed.

I don’t think its worth it – but it’s DEFINITELY worth it to investigate 🙂

    good luck.
