Hi, we don’t have a Facebook shop but have a Facebook Catalog of products that is used for Facebook advertising purposes. We only want to the catalog to show a selection of our products and not all of them.

I think I have realised that this plugin only affects the Facebook shop in terms of ‘visibility’. No matter how we synch, hide or untick the visibility against a product in Woocommerce, it always displays in the catalog and is thus available to the dynamic advertising (e.g. the carousels), so we end up promoting products we don’t want to promote!

We’re having to manually delete them from the Catalog or remove them from Facebook at the Woocommerce end, but they then re-appear on a re-synch. I’m guessing this is by design and there is a distinct disconnect between ‘catalog’ and ‘shop’.

Is there any way around this or should we be looking at another plugin that deals specifically with the catalog (rather than the shop)?

    Thanks

    Dan

  • Hi @dankuwp!

Thanks for contacting us about Facebook for WooCommerce, appreciate it. 🙂

Our team here at SkyVerge just recently took over development and support for this plugin, so I’m not absolutely sure about this. I suspect you’re right, that it’s intended. What I’ll do here is speak with a colleague about this and I’ll come back to you with confirmation as soon as I can.

    Thanks so much, Dan!

    Hey @dankuwp!

Thanks for your patience as I looked into this. As I mentioned, we recently took over development and support for this plugin and one of the things that is receiving a major overhaul is the synchronization of products.

For now, yes, this would be expected behavior that all products on WooCommerce are being synchronized to the FB Catalog.

That said, we’re hoping to release version 1.10.0 of the plugin in the next couple of weeks as we push through some blockers here. Most of the work is done and, as I said, should overhaul the synchronization.

While it’s not ideal, I’d recommend holding off on arguing with the current plugin to see if our new version helps fix this up at all. I’m sorry I don’t have better news for you here, though I hope knowing this is all being rewritten is helpful.

Is there anything else I can help out with here? Please don’t hesitate to let me know.

    Thanks!

    Julie 🙂
