I tried fixing the .top-bar-section –it works but there’s a few elements to the top menu and it gets a bit too messy for me to cope. The drop down menus jump to the left and some other bits still scroll up. I’ll have deeper look when I get the time.

Isn’t that answer regarding the Twenty Thirteen theme instead of Spine? There’s bad advice in that answer anyway, it tells people to edit theme files. The Twenty Thirteen theme will be regularly updated, so what ever edits are made to the theme’s files will be erased.
