    Hi there @csesupport

    Thanks for your question!

Is there any way to stop people using their own Woocommerce Affiliate code to purchase products for themselves?

I am not really sure if I understand your question here.

Could you please elaborate a bit more?

Do you mean that you use an affiliate plugin for WooCommerce, and users use their own code or affiliate ID (referral ID) to make a purchase on your website?

    Look forward to your reply.

Hi Sol and thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

We have a couple of thousand members, which we’ve made affiliates and told them that if they introduce anyone, and they purchase something, we’ll give them 20% commission.

Some the the members are using their own affiliate code link to purchase items themselves. They then want 20% commission on their own sales/purchases.

I’m wondering if there’s a way to block commission, if the affiliate code is the same account as the sale?

    Thanks again

    Hi @csesupport

Ok so the main issue is:

Some the the members are using their own affiliate code link to purchase items themselves. They then want 20% commission on their own sales/purchases.

    I think that’s really not good 🙁

There are two ways to resolve this:

    1) You will need to contact the plugin developer of the affiliate plugin you’re using on how resolve this. Because as far as I am aware the Core WooCommerce software doesn’t have affiliate system capability.

    2) When you’re sending the encouragement for your members to become your affiliate, please ensure to include terms of conditions about the 20% commission.

    I hope that helps!

    1) the developer is WooCommerce (https://woocommerce.com/products/affiliate-for-woocommerce/) and I haven’t had a reply from their support yet, that’s why I tried here.
    2) asking them not to hasn’t stopped them.

    Thanks anyway Sol

    Hey again!

Just to clarify: the developer (and the folks that support it) are not WooCommerce. That plugin is made and support handled by StoreApps. They sell plugins on the WooCommerce.com marketplace.

You should hear back from them shortly, if not already.

    Have a great one!

Hi, got you. StoreApp have replied and there’s nothing they can do, affiliates can use their own ref code when purchasing things for themselves. Seems flawed to me. I’ll have a look on CodeCanyon and see if can find one that offers this.
    Thanks again for your help

    That’s a bummer @csesupport

    Thanks again for your help

That sounds a great plan. You’re welcome!
