Step 2: 501 status: Method Not Implemented

    Hi there,

    I tested Duplicator successfully on my own machine. Now we wanted to move a website we developed on our private machine to the webspace we have available. I say “have available” because we are a small community garden and get access to web space of a member to host our web site. As such we only have limited access rights … which I think may be the issue.

    Anyway, we transferred the archive and installer files and executed them successfully. However after we the screen for step 2, enter and confirm the new settings, we get “
    server code: 501
    status: Method Not Implemented
    response:
    Method Not Implemented

    GET to /<install folder>/installer.php not supported.

    Additionally, a 501 Method Not Implemented error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    The installer-log.txt does not contain any information, so we are a bit lost what is not implemented. Are any PHP functions not enabled or closed down, don’t we have sufficient rights?
    Any hint to understand what’s going wrong is highly appreciated.

    500 errors are diffcult to isolate. There is a small section on the FAQ about them. If your on a budget host with limited access then permissions can easily cause issues as well…
