Static Product Image with Variable Background

I’m using WC in WP to build a t-shirt website and i would like the main ‘Product Image’ (a graphic/design .png) to always remain on screen but I would like my variation images (colored t-shirts) to change behind the product image.

This will save me a lot of time and space.
If i have 200 products i would only need to have 200 images of the different designs and 5 images of the t-shirt colours – 205 images.
Where if this isn’t possible I would need 5 images of each product (ie the design on 5 colored shirts) – 1000 images.

I don’t mind if this is works with a plugin or if it needs some coding (help needed) so if anyone has any ideas or input i would appreciate it.
