Static Page/Post per Category
-
Would it be possible to create a static page PER category and not just a static page/post in the front page of the blog?
The way it goes is–each time I click on a category, there is a static page/post that I end up with, and then I can make succeeding posts under that category.
Is this possible?

If it’s a matter of navigation look at
How to easily display links to both Pages and Categories in the blog navigation header?or look at
http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/or look at the Page of Posts example in the Pages article
Thanks for responding.
It is not a matter of displaying links navigation. What I am considering for a blog is the following APPLIED to a Category.
Using a Page as the Front Page
A Page can easily be set to be your site’s Front Page. Visit the Administration > Settings > Reading panel and under Front page displays, you can choose to set any (published) Page or Posts Page as the Front Page. The default setting shows your blog with the latest blog posts.
Now, instead of the Front Page, think Category. Whenever I click on a category link, the landing page is a static page and underneath that page post are my new posts. So, if I have 10 Categories, I’ll have 10 static landing page posts, one per category.
Is this possible?
Whenever I click on a category link, the landing page is a static page and underneath that page post are my new posts.
But you don’t need to resort to Pages. Use the Category Widget and click on a category link and you will see a list of the posts in that category. WordPress natively will present those posts–again you don’t need to resort to trickery to do that.
What you are saying is the default of the WP platform if I am not mistaken–you said:
Use the Category Widget and click on a category link and you will see a list of the posts in that category.
I understand this and my blogs are in that mode.
As far as the trickery, what now?
WordPress natively will present those posts–again you don’t need to resort to trickery to do that.
It is a matter of what I want to show in my category page whenever someone visits a category. If I have more than 10 categories, I want a landing page for that SPECIFIC category to have a static post. Maybe it’s good for SEO to have a static page post and have dynamic posts underneath the page whenever a post is added–assuming I’m showing 3 to 5 posts per page.
All due respect, I am not asking for an opinion whether it’s trickery or not. I resent that. Your opinion is off.
What I’m asking for is if the WP platform can do in a Category what it can do in a Front Page display–as far as a Static Page/Post is concerned?
Can it be done? Not why should it be done?
Apologies for offending you. Since WordPress does not “create a static page PER category” you will need to either:
1. create your page template(s) to handle that
2. use a plugin that allows you to put a shortcode or code in a page content to cause posts of a given category to display on that page. It’s all good. Can you recommend a WP plugin for this?
See my comment above:
http://wordpress.org/support/topic/377898?replies=6#post-1443412If I understand his example page, in Spanish, for the plugin, that is,
http://picandocodigo.net/programacion/
the author’s plugin only shows the links of posts per category in a page. The plugin shows navigational links transposed from the sidebar to the front of the page. This is good, if I want a site index page. But not good for my purpose.
His example page does not show a landing page, only a list of post links per category. Isn’t that right?
Can you recommend another plugin for my purpose?
It’s a bit more complicated, but see if you like http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/postlists/
the author’s plugin only shows the links of posts per category in a page
Forgot–need to point out that you can see the content — see content=yes here: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/list-category-posts/other_notes/
rocketblog. I have the same issue as you. did you find a way to do it?
My blog is made up of all posts in the “blog” category, not on a page. I want to set this category as my static page.
cheers
