I cannot get my Virtue site(s) to change to a static page. I’ve tried both “Appearance >Customize” and “Settings > Reading” and nothing happens (and yes, I assigned both the Front page [Featured sidebar] and Posts page [Blog]). This seems like a pretty straightforward proposition. Is there something I’m missing? Do I have to fuss with the index.php? It worries me a little that I can’t find anyone else with this problem…

  • Hey,
So you can use a static page and the content of that page becomes your “page content” in the theme options > home layout so if you have “page content” enabled then you static page will show.

What you can’t do is use a page template because the theme has a default front page template. So If your trying to use a page template on your home page it’s not going to work because wordpress automatically uses front-page.php which is what the theme uses to have the sliders and other modules of the home page.

If you really want to use a page template you have to remove the “front-page.php” file from the theme.

That will mean you can’t use the home slider and other settings though.
