    Hi,
when I enable persistent caching, I get this error message: The .htaccess file already contains browser static caching settings, but browser caching is not functioning as expected. This indicates that your webserver does not support .htaccess browser caching rules. To further investigate this, you must contact your web hosting provider.

But the hosting provider claims that Memcached is available on the server and that the issue must be due to a misconfigured plugin or a conflict elsewhere. Could you please advise on what might be causing this?

    Thank you very much. 🙏

    Linda

    Hi,

Thanks for reaching out! Memcached is a different layer of caching compared to the static file caching that you’re trying to enable with WP-Optimize. Memcached will cache the database queries used by WordPress and our static file caching will tell the visitors browser to cache files such as images, javascript and stylesheets.

However testing the site I do see static files being cached by my browser. Can you ask the hosting provider to double check the htaccess file to see if there are rules in place for static file caching?

You may also want to try doing a plugin conflict test where you deactivate all plugins except for WP-Optimize to see if the static file caching can be enabled.

Let me know what the hosting provider says!
