    Hi,

I run on my startpage of http://www.kernoelpepi.com the plugin “Page Builder by SiteOrigin” in combination with “SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle”.
After the last update in the end of the last week i have the problem on the startpage, that it does not load completely. A part of the content is missing and the whole footer area. Additionally all the pictures of the slider are shown together among each other instead of varying in the slider.
The footer is shown, when a subpage is accessed.
This behaviour is shown on desktop computer (tested on chrome and MS Edge) and Android cell phone.
    Other systems haven´t been tested.
On the android phone additionally the menu for entering the subpages does not work. The menu entries are even not shown, when i press on the button with the 3 lines.

When the plugin “SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle” gets deactivated (“Page Builder by SiteOrigin” keeps activated) in the wordpress backend, a part of the startpage gets loaded and the footer comes back.
When the plugin “Page Builder by SiteOrigin” gets deactivated (“SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle” keeps activated) the footer is still missing and the whole content of the startpage (which is logical bevause the whole content of the startpage was built up with this plugin)
By the way, only the startpage on http://www.kernoelpepi.com was built with those 2 plugins. All the other subpages manage without it. Thats propably the reason why all of them are still working.

For all of you who wan´t to have a direct look on http://www.kernoelpepi.com:
“SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle” and “Page Builder by SiteOrigin” are both activated at the moment!

Does anybody of you know how to get rid of this problem?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Pepi

    Hi Andrew,
Could you already take a look onto the new situation with deactivated child theme?

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi Pepi

Sorry I missed your reply yesterday. I’m not quite sure why this is happening. What widgets are currently added to your footer widget area?

If you’d like us to login and take a look, please, post on our forum https://siteorigin.com/thread, we can exchange details there. Thanks.

    Hi Andrew,
I’m using the “storefront footer bar” plugin and i have activated at least a facebook like widget, a widget which is able to show text and a widget which shows keywords of the news articles (in different font sizes).
I’m not really sure if i was using a 4th one. Due to the plugins are deactivated i cannot have a look to the settings.

How would it work, when you would login onto my site? Which type of user would you need?

    Thanks, Pepi

The goal is to create a working baseline. I can use Storefront with Page Builder and Widgets Bundle without issue so ideally, you need to find that baseline and then add elements back until it breaks again. Ideally, remove all widgets from the footer widget area, does the footer then appear. The first goal is to establish a working baseline.

So in summary, can you get a working baseline. Initially, we aren’t trying to solve the issue, we’re just trying to strip everything away until the products work together. Can you find a working baseline by removing everything from the footer?

So it’s just the home page that the footer doesn’t show on.

Another option is to go to Pages > Home, click on Layouts > Import/Export, export the JSON file and upload it to a cloud service like Google Drive or Dropbox. I’ll then test the layout locally and see if I can find an issue.

    Good Morning!
Thank you for your replies! I appreciate that very much!
Sorry, but i can not find the possibility to download this json file. Do i need a special plugin to be able to do that?
    Thanks, Pepi

    Hi Pepi

You can do it from the Layouts > Import/Export section in Page Builder in the page you’re editing. Here it is in images:

    Does that help?

    Hi Andrew!

    Thanks for the Screenshots!
this morning i also found out, that i did not had installed the actual wordpress version. And there also was an update available for my storefront and storefront child theme.
I updated everything and since that time the footer came back.
Unfortunately a couple of other things have changed.
For example, information in the footer is missing, or an extra menu on the right side of the page is visible.
Additionally the calculation of the shipping costs does not work anymore.

But i think all this stuff does not have anything todo with the page builder or the widget bundle!

It would be great if you would have a short close up view onto my page. Maybe you can give me some tipps where i can begin with trouble shooting. Most important thing for me would be to eliminate the extra menu on the right side and bring it back into the footer area.

I would also send you a donation for your help and your work in the community here. How is it possible to do this?

    Many thanks in advance!

Fantastic, I’m really glad the initial issue has been resolved.

I’m not quite sure why some info has changed. The parent theme has the slug/identifier “storefront” and the child theme has the identifier “storefront-child” (usually). Theme options are linked to the slug. If we set up our menu assignments (Appearance > Menus) with the parent theme activated and then switch to the child theme, the options will reset as the slug has changed. Put another way, our menu and widget assignments and theme settings are linked to the theme slug. Hopefully, that makes sense.

The above explanation, however, doesn’t explain what happened. Can you perhaps redo the items that are missing? Will it take long? I’m not sure how many items are missing.

    (@kernoelpepi)

I think it won´t take many time to redo that.
I´m gonna try that in the weekend!
    Thanks again for your help!

    Cheers!

Super. Sorry for the hassle. If it’s a relatively easy fix to do it manually then I think that’ll be the best course of action.

If you’re ever looking to add additional settings to SiteOrigin widgets or make use of our email support service, please take a look at our SiteOrigin Premium offering.

    All the best 🙂
