Square meters please

I’ve seen the other thread that discussed this same issue (http://wordpress.org/support/topic/changing-defaults-1) and @agentevolution said there’s no way to do this but revise the plugin, which he won’t recommend, because it will get re-written by future updates.

But I’m desperate. I need to use square meters instead of square feet, I don’t mind if I don’t get to update the plugin for a while.

Can @agentevolution (or anyone!) please answer how to do this step-by-step:
