  • Can I use the backed up databases for the tables wp-posts and wp-comments from 2.2 and bring it in to 2.3.1? If possible, anything I should change / think about before doing?

Unfortunately my blog broke down, big time, got blank pages in all the crucial places, which made it impossible to upgrade. Also, I couldn’t export my posts and comments, which means that my last hope is being able to use the backup from the database, as the only option I had was to install 2.3.1 fresh.

No. You can, however, install 2.2, use the backup of your database, and then upgrade it to 2.3.1.

Righteo – I guess a new install of 2.2 may resolve the issues I had, and allow for an upgrade this time around… Thanks for the advice.

Update: Reinstalling 2.2 worked fine, however I still can’t upgrade, get a blank page. Thanks for the advice, never the less, reinstalling finally gave me the chance to export all my posts (which wasn’t possible before) so I can make a clean install of 2.3.1 and import all the posts now.
