Spurious error message? or buggy plugin update?

    WP_CACHE is disabled, plugin will not work that way. Please add define '( 'WP_CACHE', true );' in wp-config.php » WP-FFPC Settings

    I have added define('WP_CACHE', true); to wp-config.php and restarted Apache2. Notwithstanding, the error message continues as a banner in the WordPress Dashboard.

    What obtains?
