    The last couple (at least) of updates appear to have omitted a spell cheker!!

    Or at least I have been unable to find it if it is there.
    If the spellchecker exists please make it more visible. Automatic is better though. (check when typing)

    Spell checking was removed from WordPress way back in version 3.6 (almost two years ago). The Google API which was being used was shut down.

    Aside from this, spell checking is best handled by the browser because it offers a much more uniform spell checking experience across whichever publishing platforms you use.
