The help files for WordPress 2 years ago are not applying to this version.

I need to display special chinese characters here:

    http://ningishzidda.com/tarot/

I have determined it to be a database error and not my browser (they display fine elsewhere)

    I used Fantastico to install.

What do i edit in my wp-config to fix this? Older advice breaks my site.

    Thanks.

    Izi

Please guys any clue helps the last support topic for this is 2 years old, and this was working fine before I upgraded to the new WordPress a few days ago.

WordPress turns my author’s special chinese characters into question marks after posting.

so I take it there is no way to fix this?

    Hi Ningishzidda

I found a solution, it looks like the problem is in the database, you need to change the values in “Collation”.

I followed this post, step by step, it’s quite easy. (You need to be able to connect to your PhpMyAdmin panel):

    http://boringest.blogasian.com/2008/10/how-to-show-chinese-characters-in-wordpress/

I did all this and it worked, the only problem is that I have to re-write all the Chinese part in my site, looks like they got lost with the database update.

    Good luck!

Ok! No need to retype all the Chinese text. After doing the “Collation” modification in your database, just delete and import your database backup (*.dump) again and everything will be in Chinese like before!
