I’m experiencing this as well.
Temporary fix is to go into Search Everything settings and disable “Highlight Search Terms”.
Guess they have solved it in last update.
If not here’s a fix.

Experiencing something similar, so thought I’d document it here. When I do a search on pages in the dashboard I’m getting the span tag as well on the matching word in the title.
I’m also experiencing this in the latest version / 8.1.3.

I second that. The issue is still there. Great plugin btw.
It also shows on the search results page when using widgets in the sidebar like Popular posts/most liked posts.
(Tries to give the search term in the widget a color but fails).
