Spam Logins

I bought s2memberspro a week ago and it’s great to set up and seems to be working now which I’m very happy for, however I have a problem. Before installing s2members I was using Wangguard and StopSpammers plugins to block the vast majority of the very large number of automated bots that target my site, I would still get maybe 20 a week or so who managed to get through but that was manageable.

Since activating s2members those two plugins seem to have stopped working and today when I went to check on my new users in Wangguard it had 13 pages (260) new users in the last two days and all of them except one are bots.

Is there any way of stopping this using s2members or another plugin that works well with s2members that can stop them? They are driving me nuts and it takes a long time to remove them all as wordpress doesn’t deal with user deletions very well (though Wangguard helps a lot with that at least).

Does anyone know how these bots work? I don’t know how my site became targeted or if everyone gets this many and I have no idea how to stop them from targeting me at this point… Any thoughts or help would be GREATLY appreciated.
