For the past few weeks we have received a lot of incoming spam orders.

    I tried the following:

    • Disabled guest only checkout
      • The spam/bot made an account and proceeded with spam orders
    • Tightened the web hosting security
      • The spam orders still persists since this is not a DDOS attack
    • Block certain countries where the spam might came from
      • The spam orders also include Australia where we sell our products
    • Installed WordFence security
      • It does not help that much

I am not sure what to do from here. Can someone assist?

    Thanks

    Hi there!

Thank you for sharing those details, I completely understand how concerning it can be to deal with ongoing spam or fraudulent orders.

May I ask if you’re currently using the PayPal payment gateway on your site? I’ve seen similar cases where users experienced a high volume of spam orders related to PayPal, so confirming this will help narrow things down.

In the meantime, I recommend following the steps outlined in this article:
🔗 How to Prevent and Respond to Card Testing Attacks

It includes detailed guidance on how to strengthen your checkout security, identify patterns, and take action to block these types of orders.

    I hope this helps.

    Hi there!

Thank you for confirming the payment method. In that case, I suggest following the steps mentioned in the article above to help prevent this issue.

Could you please confirm if you’re using the following PayPal payment method?
    🔗 WooCommerce PayPal Payments

If yes, I recommend creating a support ticket with the plugin’s support team so they can investigate this further.

If you’re using a different PayPal plugin, please reach out directly to that plugin’s support team for assistance.

Thank you for pin pointing the issue for me.

I have deactivated the plugin for now and observe the performance of our shop.

    Hi @israel5ew,

Thank you for the update. I’m glad to hear that deactivating the plugin has helped you take the next step in monitoring the situation. That’s a smart move, and I hope it gives you some breathing room to observe how things go without the spam orders coming through.
