Sort Gallery by Custom Field

I’ve got the plugin working well and modified my caption template to show the fields exactly as I need them.

I am now wondering if there will be any future plugin update to allow sorting of the gallery by the custom field.

Essentially I would like to “Sort Gallery”, then see a Presort option for my custom fields.

Or, has anyone already done this and would let me know of where I can potentially add this to the ngg code?
