Soring comments by type

    Hi, does anyone know how to sort the output of the comments to sort them by trackbacks, pingbacks, and real-person comments? I know there is a function called comment_type . If I include two comment loops — one for pings and the other for comments — how can I make each loop exclude certain comment types?
    Even I am not very big on separating comments as pings and real-person comments, but as wordpress grows and is adopted by even bigger bloggers, the greatest feedback I am getting is that the presence of pings between comments hampers discussion flow.

    For improving discussion flow, you want to try the threaded comments hack, which lists comments in threads. A search in these forums would lead to at least a couple of threads in which that hack is discussed.

    Thank you. I know about the threaded comments hack but a more minimalist solution is what my friends are asking for. Some have already reverted to the pre-.72 method of separating the comments between two popup windows but they (and myself) are wondering if separating comments according to comment type is possible. I can probly take care of rewriting the loop for wp-comments.php but i do not know where to start with filtering the comment types.
