Some weird stuff going on

Works fine, for the most part….

BUUUUUT……..

If you import a product that has the exact same name as a product that is no longer active, this plugin will choose to re-add and modify that defunct item instead of creating a whole new product listing.

In my case, I deal with second hand single items that can’t be re-ordered and restocked, this plugin chose to rip older product listings (that had the same product listing name) that had already been allocated, sold and shipped to a customer months before. This meant that the item that had already sold found its way back onto my online store and was available to purchase. Not only that, but these older listings literally overwrote everything from slug to SKU to images (which is how I spotted it), replacing the new product listing with all out of date data from the defunct listing.

Not going to lie, this was a BIG WTF!! moment.

I luckily had spotted it just before I took my site back off maintenance, but could have put me and my business in a really bad position.

The work around for me was to put a suffix on each title within the SAMPLE excel file that comes with the plugin. That way it forces the plugin to treat every product being imported as a new product listing.
