• Hi Jordy,

at first I like to say thank you for this great plugin and sorry for my bad english.

After testing this plugin I found some issues on our configuration of an WordPress multisite instance. Some of the following points working fine on locally instance, but don’t work right on alpha instance.
In both ways I cannot get the debug mode working properly. On my Mac it’ll never serve the retina images, I’ve testing this in Chrome and Firefox and always get the smaller image.
The log file on the alpha instance don’t write out if the image tags are re-written or not, this is working fine on the local instance. We’re using the picturefill method and after testing the alpha instance on my Nexus Tablet I could see, this is working fine.

But what we really need for the production instance is the feature which is already mentioned here: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/not-working-for-me-wordpress-in-multisite-mode-domain-mapping-plugin
As you suggest it is not a miracle to modify the plugin for this feature but we don’t want to modify the plugin by ourself about the update possibility.

    best regards
    Tina

    Hello,

Actually the plugin works on Multi Site. So I am not sure what is the problem exactly with your configuration.

You said it’s working on Nexus Tablet. If it works for one device, it basically work for all of them. Maybe there is a little caching issue or anything else but it would have nothing to do with multisite.

    What’s your URL?

    Hello,

the problem is actually that the debug mode don’t work as mentioned. So we cannot check if the plugin is working correct only by put the debug mode on and check if the big pictures are delivered on Desktop devices. Only testing it on my Nexus confirming that the plugin is working correct.
Also the log file in some cases don’t showing that the image-tags are overwritten.
So, this is not really a problem, I only want to give you a notice about this.

    Really a problem is:
I cannot give you an URL because we cannot activate the plugin until the problem with domain mapping plugin still exist! This is a virtual standard plugin for multisite installs, so if WP Retina 2x works with multisites it should be compatible with the Domain Mapping Plugin otherwise it is not usual for multisite instances.

If it works on your Nexus, it works for all devices 🙂 Really. No need to turn the debug mode or anything, it will not show anything special. The plugin works on the server-side.

The problem might be on the client-side. Your theme might be changing the way it displays and break something. The Javascript (PictureFill) might not work because of other Javascripts you are using and/or your theme. This requires more advanced debug.

Without the URL it will be really difficult to help you. But from what you said, the plugin work, it’s more likely a theme related issue depending on the device and the usage of the retina devices.

You can try different method, like Retina.js, Server-Side, etc. Maybe they will be play better with your theme. I always recommend to use PictureFill and fix the theme since PictureFill is the future. But I still propose the other methods to avoid having to fix it yet 😉
