Software Licensing Question

Hi before I get the extension will the Software Licensing add on enable me to have a 7 day, 6 month and year expiration license key for a single item?

Example I’m selling a software file (variable item) that if purchased with the 7 day license will not allow the user to use the software after 7 days.

(just curious) If so how does it actually talk with the software file?
