socket_last_error upon migration

    Hi,
    I’m trying to move a site from the staging subdirectory to the root directory as follows:
    http://www.jms.my/staging
    to
    http://www.jms.my

    I’m using the “Migrate” option under Migration Assistant.

    I filled in the old and new URLs, ftp password. Yet I keep getting this error

    Connecting to ftp.jms.my:21...
Warning: socket_last_error() expects parameter 1 to be resource, null given in /home/jmssmy1/public_html/staging/wp-admin/includes/class-ftp-sockets.php on line 59
Failed!
Operation terminated...

Please check your FTP connection details on the settings page

    Any pointers would be much appreciated.
