• Hi, aside from the current display difficulties I am having since the update where the icons do not show in Sociable Classic mode, I have been thinking that this plugin could really benefit from an extra feature or three. This mainly applies to Skyscraper:

    • This plugin doesn’t always render well on tablets and mobile devices. On anything where the screen width is below a certain size (varies according to site of course) the Skyscraper bar overlaps the text making it unreadable. Obscures all the text and is not very friendly. >>

My suggestion is that you add a feature where, for screen resolutions that are narrower than a ‘site-owner definable’ width (eg: 800px), the vertical Skyscraper bar:

converts into a horizontal bar/set of icons inserted into the main content area OR
“closes” so it is just a skinny tab OR
has the ability to not show at all.
    • An option for the users to start Skyscraper bar in a “closed” position – in the case of the left side display, it would appear so people have to click the tab, and it can then fly out and open from the left. Much less obtrusive on sites where you do not want a large bar on show.
    • The option to start the TOP and GO HOME section of the bar in a closed position or not to be shown at all. I’ve been using this plugin for many years, but am verging on switching to another plugin to manage social sharing because the bar is too long and we don’t have that much control in what icons we want to appear or not use.

I have no use for a GO HOME and TOP option because i already have a ‘back to top’ js features on most sites, so it is redundant.

    • The option to replace the large Counter buttons with smaller versions similar to those used in the Counter version of Twitter/FB/G+ icons in Sociable Classic.

I hope you will consider these ideas because it really is one of the best looking plugins that would totally kick the butt of other plugins if it had a few more tweaks and was more customizable like others (which don’t look as sexy) are.

Many people out there say they would even pay a little to use it. If it allowed much more customization control, cost a reasonable one off fee (not ongoing) and all the bugs were fixed, then I too would consider doing so.

    Thoughts? 🙂

Hey no worries. I shall do. That is how great things are made even greater IMHO. Especially since we (as users) all have different real-world applications of things and needs, so you can discover ways to improve plugins.

If you had some of these features, i truly think that other people would migrate from other plugins that do offer a bit more customization control, but which they stay using due to the fact they have that control. Even though they are often clunkier and less attractive.

Keep us posted on the next release. Would be great to see what is in store. 🙂
