• I’m just learning how to use word press so I could use some help. I’ve put it on our server at work, apple’s snow leopard 10.6. It works fine viewing the site on the local machine but connecting from a different machine, it doesn’t load any pictures, all I get is a text page for the home page and none of the links create a page. Any ideas?
    Thanks for the help!

  • I just bought a snow leopard server and was going to see if I could get wordpress installed. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Remember not to set a site url that includes ‘localhost’…

    Hey esmi,

I have uploaded the wordpress folders with all the php files etc onto the server. When I navigate to my domain wordpress loads and asks for a config file. It requires the following info:

Database name, database username, password, database host, and Table prefix.

I have played around with the MySql database settings but can’t seem to figure out how to set the database name, username, and password within the Snow leopard server admin window.

Also, I can’t figure out the database host … do I just leave that as “localhost” or change it to the name of my server?

    Much thanks in advance!

You’ll have to create a database user first, then a database, then assign the user to that database. By the time you’re done with that, you’ll know what you need for the wp-config.php file. I don’t exactly know how to do that OS X server, but the folks in their support forum should be able to help: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=264

It’s more than likely just localhost.
