    Hey RavenH,

I’m Chris, from over on the Google News forum πŸ™‚

So, now I’m experiencing the ‘slow indexing’ that several news publishers have been reporting recently.

In troubleshooting my issue, one of the experts on the Google Webmaster Forum asked if my sitemap is pinging Google.

I know it should be… but is there any way that you know of to test that? It’d be good to make sure that there isn’t a conflict or firewall blocking it I suppose.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Realized I could test this by pinging manually to see if that would trigger Google to pick up the latest article, but that has not worked, so I don’t think the issue I’m having has anything to do with pinging. Otherwise the sitemaps look fine, so I don’t think this has anything to do with the sitemaps.

Hi Chris, could you share a link to the discussion on the Google forum? I’ll be interested to keep an eye on this issue.

In the mean time, I can share the upcoming Pro extension that includes a ping log with you so you can see ping results and test the plugin for me at the same time if you like πŸ™‚

The feature is currently under development but should be finnished soon. You can contact me over at https://status301.net/contact-en/ and I’ll send you a copy as soon as it’s ready for testing…

    Thanks RavanH,

    The link is: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/webmasters/L58Fp0JiiDk;context-place=forum/webmasters

Nothing really useful has been added at this point though.

Sound like a great feature, but I don’t think the problem is ping, was just an idea to investigate. I’ll be in touch though, thanks –

    Chris
