Theme Author use a plugin for the slideshow. As you can see here on the theme’s manual: http://www.template-joomspirit.com/help/wp-spirit-01/manual.html ( I suggest you bookmark this page for reference )
This is the plugin slider he used on the theme and also recommend: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ml-slider/

I guess I must be daft. I see how to do the plugin and see the short code: [metaslider id=59] BUT… it does not show up in the spot where the theme has it in the demo nor does it have the edges that are step faded with the arrows. Other than putting it into a page or post there is no place in the theme config to place this.

On the manual search for this section title “How to obtain the Home page of the demo ?”. After I followed that step I successfully replicate the slideshow on the demo page. 🙂

I figured out how to work it based on your first message. I have another question. How do I get the “date, posted by, category, comments” removed from above each post?
I had another question about the slideshow. How do I get it to only play on the homepage? I don’t want it on the other posts or pages when someone clicks on a post or page because it takes up too much room.

Forgot to include the solution on how to remove the meta of post.
I suggest you use a child theme http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes or use css custom plugin like this: https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-custom-css/ if you will customize your theme.
Add the code in your child theme’s style.css or using the plugin mentioned above.
.meta {
display: none;
}

I have the same problem as jenosullivan. I would like to have the slideshow only on the front page, but not on single post pages. I recognized the template when creating pages but I don’t find it when I’m creating posts.
So, here’s my question: where can I select the Template “No slideshow” for posts? 🙂
