Have you installed Jetpack? The plugin is required in order to use the Featured Content slider on a self-hosted site:

But i have the self problem , and now irun jetpack but Ihave Only “hervorgehobener Inhalt” under Design / Customize but this doesnt work
bikerface86 – could you explain in more detail what isn’t working with your Featured Content module?
Did you follow these steps exactly:
1. Navigate to Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.
2. Enter the name of a tag.
3. Click the blue “Save” button at the bottom.
4. Create a post with a featured image that’s at least 960px wide. Note: The featured image will look best at a 2.88:1 width-to-height ratio, and at least 500px tall.
5. Give the post the tag you declared under Appearance → Customize → Featured Content.

It is important to mention that sometimes featured pictures do not appear, if you do not switch the settings ==> reading ==> to “Your latest posts” If you switch it to statics pages it does not work.
