    Hi,

I have a few questions. Within the past few days, I have noticed an uptick on the number of sketchy live traffic events (e.g., people trying to install plugins, upload media, bypass logins, etc.). How do I go about blocking these types of actions in a more general way than just blocking IP addresses (which is futile) and implementing a GEO block (lose out on traffic)? I know you can block specific addresses. Is that the way to go here? Are there certain addresses that I shouldn’t block that will mess up my site?

    Thanks,

    Ashley

  • Hi Ashley,

I assume you detected these requests in Wordfence Live Traffic log, am I right? if so, then you should have seen that Wordfence blocked these requests for you, so there is no thing you have to do right now. Blocking IP addresses permanently isn’t recommended as IPs are being assigned dynamically and you might end up blocking a legit one. However, if you observed a specific pattern that you want to block, you can do that using “Custom Pattern” following this guide.

    Thanks.

Since we haven’t heard from you for a while I’m going to go ahead and resolve this thread. If you have any other questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to open a new one.

    Thanks.
