Site Locked for all users

Hello,

I updated Theme My Login and since then I have not been able to log into my site with any of the logins I had created.

First I noticed this when I tried logging in with my Admin account. I got a message saying the site was locked and I could try again in 12 hours.

Next I tried another account that I had created and I couldn’t get in. It keeps telling me that my username or password is incorrect. I tried using the reset password so I could avoid causing this username from being locked out for 24 hours. I fill out the form then I get an email with a reset link but then I get a message saying that link doesn’t work.

I’m guessing I need to remove Theme My Login but how when I can’t get into my dashboard to remove or disable it? Is there a back way using either FTP or putty in?

I’m having the same issue. Wrong password issue, or just refreshes with url parameter of ?reauth=1. I’m rolling back now.

Rolling back to 6.4 works. We gotta be rollin’ in our 6.4’s.

It seems to only affect some sites, as other sites we have on 6.4.1 are working fine. Not sure what the issue is, but going to be cautious with updating to 6.4.1 for other sites we have.

How were able to roll it back? I can’t get in to do anything. I went into my plugins folder and renamed theme-my-login thinking that would as good as deleting it with the safety of being able to put it back if I needed to. Now I’m getting the default WP login screen but I still can’t login.

I have a backup from a few days before this happened. If I don’t find a way in soon I guess I’ll have to wipe out my instance of wordpress, reinstall it then restore the backup. I really don’t want to do all this so if you have a better way please share.

Wait – you should be able to just open the backup and just upload the Theme My Login folder to /wp-content/plugins. That’s how I restored it. If, for some reason you can’t get version 6.4 back, I can send it over (I can’t seem to find an archived version on Jeff F.’s site for this version!).

Still doesn’t work.
It’s still counting down… says I have 2 more hours to go. However, my other logins are still just refreshing and not letting me in.

Maybe I don’t have the right version.

If you can email it to me that would be great.

Thanks Andrew for the link.

I downloaded it and then uploaded it to my server (after deleting the theme-my-login directory) and it’s still fails to let me in.

Its still counting down with this message:
ERROR: This account has been locked because of too many failed login attempts. You may try again in 1 hour.

I have a feeling after the hour is up I still won’t be able to get in because right now none of my logins are working.

I will try again in an hour. Any other ideas from anyone?

Yes something is really wrong.

Not only can I not login but I just tried to register as a new user and I got this error:
ERROR: Couldn’t register you… please contact the webmaster !

This is getting really annoying.

You have other problems that aren’t related to TML, @spiderwayne, if you still can’t login after it’s been disabled.

Yes I would have to agree. I tried all night to figure out whats going on and came up with nothing. I think later today I’m taking it all down and rebuilding from backup.
