Hi! When I try to set up Site Kit, I can go through the sign in process without a problem and I get the success message, but then when it refreshes back to my website, I see the following error:

Unknown Error (code: cURL error 77: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /etc/ssl/certs/cacert.pem CApath: /etc/ssl/certs).

I use cloudflare for ssl – is there potentially something here causing the issue? I’ve tried redoing the plugin setup and resetting Site Kit multiple times, but I still get the same outcome. Any suggestions?

  • @chubstr thanks for your topic!

This sounds similar to this previous issue encountered by a user. It may be related to the SSL configuration used by the cURL functionality on your server for verification. This would be something you’ll want to circle with your hosting provider about.

Thanks for the reply, Renee – we use Cloudflare for SSL. I also saw another support post you helped with and wondered if it might be related to this? https://wordpress.org/support/topic/unknown-error-curl-error-60/

Just want to make sure I’m headed in the right direction as we try to figure this one out.

@chubstr thanks for your reply! Yes, this is exactly the same issue I mentioned previously, so you’re heading in the right direction.

The thing is that it may not have to do with you SSL configuration at Cloudflare, but rather the SSL configuration for the cURL functionality on your server at your web host. You may need to reach out to your hosting provider about this specifically.
