My goal is to migrate the site at http://emarchstest.com to http://emarchs.com

Tonight I tried importing the .wpress file for emarchstest.com into emarchs.com … and it got stuck at 73% in “Restoring Database”. Then when I finally closed the browser window (after about an hour), of course the website at emarchs.com was broken.

(Note: Earlier today, I had done a test migration (to another URL — http://emarchstesttwo.com), which worked just fine.)

I chatted with Bluehost support, but that support person was not of any help. So I finally asked him to restore the backup of the previous emarchs.com site. (He told me it would be restored in about 40 minutes … the site is still down right now).

All three URLs are part of the same Bluehost account … so PHP is the same for all three. And I don’t know why the migration earlier today would have worked, but not the one tonight.

I have never moved files via FTP (I am not a developer), so I am nervous about doing that.

Can you help me figure out what is wrong, and how I can successfully do the import?

    One more thing to note:
When I did a successful import earlier today to emarchstesttwo.com, the exported emarchstest.com file did NOT contain the Yoast SEO plugin. I added that to the emarchstest.com site later today.

Then, I did another export of that site (which would then include Yoast SEO). And I was unable to import that to emarchs.com.

Also, emarchs.com had a site on it already, so I don’t know if the overwriting was an issue.

Neither of those things may have impacted the failed import, but I wanted to give you all of the info.

    Thanks!
    Christine
