seems to have been an issue with the email address using the same domain name as the website for the alias. I just used a gmail address for the site admin and it seems that the emails are fine. Any ideas?
Thanks again!
Hello. Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro, and great to hear you’ve found a way that works. However, we would like some details so we can investigate this issue further. If I understand correctly, emails are not sent when using an email address at that domain. So if I had my site as http://example.com and an admin email of admin@example.com, the emails aren’t being sent?

Hi,
Thank you for your reply. This is exactly the case. I wonder if it has something to do with my cpanel set up? I ran a trace route of the email and everything works fine. Emails are being sent and received perfectly fine so I don’t know if it is Cpanel/server issue. If i put in an email alias using the domain name as site admin in wordpress no emails get sent out when people sign up or the membership level changes. As soon as i put a gmail address in everything works fine.
Thank you for your attention to this.
Hey there, if it sounds like emails are being sent and received perfectly otherwise, then yes this sounds like it would be a cPanel/server issue. A common issue I’ve run into on WordPress sites on some hosts (BlueHost comes to mind) is sometimes there has to be an email account actually registered on the cPanel. For example, if you have admin@example.com, you could try actually adding that email account to your cPanel setup and see if that fixes it. If that doesn’t, the best solution might be to just contact your host.
I’m having the same problem only not even my g-mail email works. I am not receiving any emails conformation, lost password, to the admin when a new user joins… nothing! I’ve tried everything else I’ve read in other threads. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Have you tried an SMTP plugin such as Easy WP SMTP?
Hi,
I finally got it to where new members receive emails but admin still doesn’t receive any and lost passwords don’t receive any? I am using Admin@example.com email but members get email from my g-mail. This is so confusing and I have been trying to figure it our for weeks and even paid for outside help and they cant even figure it out. So if you have any ideas I would greatly appreciate your help, thanks!
Did you try the plugin I mentioned before?
It also sounds like you might have different settings set up for your general WordPress admin and PMPro email settings. If members are receiving emails after signing up, but not from lost passwords, etc., then you might want to try switching your WordPress admin email to the same email you have set in Memberships > Email Settings.
Yes, I am using the plugin you mentioned. I have tried everything and now new members aren’t getting emails again, not sure why. PMPro plugin has been a nightmare with the email. Probably going to buy a different one. Any suggestions on a similar one that the email actually works on? Thanks!
The email should work by default on most setups. If you are having email issues with one, you’re most likely going to have the same issues with another. Have you ever been able to receive the Lost Password, etc. emails on your WordPress site before?
