single.php and page.php are not posting the right content

    I am building a custom theme for a website and it is very basic.

    The theme worked fine until i updated wordpress to 3.0.4

    When using <?php get_permalink(); ?> my source code depicts the website’s home page url instead of the permalink to specific post or page.
