Sidebar will no longer update widgets.

My sidebar widgets were operating fine about 2 hours ago. During the course of my editing, the sidebar now is set to the default widgets. All of the widgets I was using are in the inactive widgets box. I drag them into the sidebar box. When I view the sidebar it reverts to default. I run only 2 plugins as widgets which worked fine with my theme (Socrates). For some reason now I am have this sidebar issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
