Sidebar missing!

So I just paid for a new theme for my blog, already feeling guilty about it. But now I feel absolutely rubbish because the sidebar isn’t showing and I hate how my blog looks without it! The theme’s demo clearly showed a sidebar, so I don’t understand why it’s missing and not available for me to customise. I really don’t want this to have been a waste of money…
