Showing posts of only specific format

Hello there,
I’m currently working on a theme that uses standard, image, gallery, link and quote post formats. I want to know how can I query/show the posts of only specific format in my sidebar. I’m currently using the WP_Query class but it’s showing the recent posts of all the formats but I want to show only standard format posts.

Something like:
```
$args = array(
	'post_type' => 'post',
	'tax_query' => array(
		array(
			'taxonomy' => 'post_format',
			'field' => 'slug',
			'terms' => array( 'post-format-quote' )
		)
	)
);
$query = new WP_Query( $args );
```
should work. See this Codex entry.

yeah it works for other post formats but I want to query only “standard format”. Can’t find a way to how to do it 🙁

it doesn’t work. I found a way but thats not looking ‘native’:

$args = array(
‘post_type’ => ‘post’,
‘tax_query’ => array(
array(
‘taxonomy’ => ‘post_format’,
‘field’ => ‘slug’,
‘terms’ => array( ‘post-format-link’, ‘post-format-image’, ‘post-format-quote’, ‘post-format-gallery’ ),
‘operator’ => ‘NOT IN’
)
),
‘posts_per_page’ => 5
);

$recent_posts = new WP_Query($args);

in your template file at the location before the loop where you want to show posts of the one post format.
