Showing errors onscreen instead of alerts?

I really like this plugin and love the way it’s easy to customize, but I’m not crazy about the alert boxes, I’d rather have any error messages display in a hidden div on the actual poll instead. How hard would that be to change? I’m assuming it would be fairly simple but thought I’d ask first before breaking my head. 🙂 Thanks!
