• Hello,

My site was hacked so I decided to start over. I use Godaddy so I uninstalled and immediately reinstalled it through their site.

my site is coming back up and is empty of posts and pages but all of the plugins that I previously had are present on the re-installation.

Is that normal? I assumed everything would be gone. Should I have given more time in between the burn down and the re-installation?

I don’t want to take any chances on the new installation getting infected. Should I uninstall the plugins and delete them via ftp?

Thanks for your time and insight

  • Hi bryanwade,
if you haven’t deleted any files, then it is normal that the plugins are there.
Usually if you wipe the database but not the wordpress files, you will find the plugins inactive after re-installation.

How did you uninstall the site? I recommend going via FTP (FileZilla) and removing all files after doing the uninstall.

That way, nothing will be left when you start again.
