Should I Use Drupal or WordPress On This One?

    Hi,

    I am in the process of deciding whether to use WordPress or Drupal for a client and want to make sure I am using a system that has the functionality they want, but is also easy for their staff to use. Here is the functionality they need:

    1. Lots and lots of content. They need to be able to have a bunch of people able to edit content on the website. They have hundreds of pages with many that are many layers deep.
    2. Allow teachers to add themselves to the system and then allow users to search their location for instructors and rate different instructors.
    3. Allow for a members only area where certain users can access private content. The members only database will have to pull the login credentials from a SQL Server.
    4. Allow the admins to create surveys and view the results.
    5. Allow the admins to run ads for a specific amount of time.
    6. Allow admins to manage a calendar including adding, editing, and deleting events.
    7. Allow the admins to constantly update a blog.

    Use wordress. I am sure wordpress can do all the task you’ve mentioned above. 🙂

    I always recommend WordPress. It can do anything Drupal can…. some things are far easier to configure, and some things you may have to hunt a bit

    1. No problem (the amount of content WP can handle, and the performance of the site, are really related directly to hosting, not software)
    2. Not sure what you mean. Teachers get their own site, or teachers can become members of site? Either way WP can handle it. If they get their own site look into http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network, if you just want them to be able to sign up to one site, that is default WP behaviour if you allow people to sign up
    3. A variety of ways to approach this, but WP can handle it. Here’s one plugin example

    4. Lots of plugins available example:

    5. tonnes of ad managers, I use

    6. again, plenty of event calendars/managers….or can be done with custom post types. Lots of info available by google
    7. Default behaviour of WP
