Does anyone have any suggestions on why this doesn’t work?
A shortcode can not be placed on a custom css fields. It can only be displayed in the content area of your post of page
I’m no expert, which is why I’m posting, but I’m just following the instructions.
Go to the plugin “Campaigns” in the admin dashboard left menu
Add your first campaign.
Set a name or add notes to your campaign
Upload the graphics / banners and define the campaign type.
Use shortcode with the campaign id and place it on any page or post.
You can also use the sidebar widget with the campaign id.
You can also use the shortcode in your template code using WordPress php command do_shortcode.
Maybe I’m missing something but it produces shortcode and I copy and paste it into the CSS of the page.
Where should I be putting that shortcode so it only displays on a single page?

I can’t insert an image. But I go into the page, edit, and there is a CSS with gear and I insert it there.
