Short Code to display by category?

I was wondering if a short code exists that I could use to display only items from certain categories on certain pages. For instance, if I wanted to make a music site that had multiple genres of music and wanted to place download links for music that is associated with the current pages genre.

I looked through your short codes, but had little success finding what I was looking for.
