Shipping – should not be free!

    When the mini cart is displayed it defaults to Shipping – Free – and yes we have a free pickup option but that must be selected it is not a default – this should read Shipping: tbd or something not FREE

    Thanks for the detail here. What you’re seeing is expected behavior, not a bug in Modern Cart, it comes from how WooCommerce itself picks a shipping method, and there’s a simple fix.

    WooCommerce automatically selects the first shipping method listed in your shipping zone as the default, and Modern Cart’s mini cart just reflects whatever WooCommerce has calculated as selected at that point. If your Local Pickup option happens to be listed first in that zone’s method list, WooCommerce auto-selects it, and since Pickup is priced at $0, it displays as “Free.”

    Could you check your shipping zone settings (WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping > [your zone]) and see if Local Pickup is listed above your other shipping methods (flat rate, etc.)? If so, try dragging it further down the list, below your paid methods. That way WooCommerce will default to selecting one of the paid methods instead, and the mini cart will show that price rather than “Free.”
