• Hi there,

I’m having an issue with the Jetpack sharing buttons, and I already discovered that it has been a very common issue for at least two years but I can’t seem to find the proper solution. Please help!

I use the icon + text layout because I like that style way better than the offical layout. I know that using the official style will sort of solve the problem, but I don’t want to use those (especially since the buttons seem to be spaced out weirdly and overlap each other).

The issues is: clicking on the Facebook or Twitter or any button for that matter will send you to a new window opening with the exact same page. You will NOT be redirected to Facebook or Twitter etc. I figured Jetpack has to have a solution for this issues since (1) it’s been known for a few years and (2) the other layout options are still available so they might work for someone right? What am I missing here?

I hope someone can help me out! THANKSSSS!

I’m assuming it’s ok to hop on this thread because this is exactly what I would have posted were I to start one.

I use the icon + text layout

I use just the icon layout.

After using the Jetpack sharing option to publicize blog updates to FB, Twitter, Google+, and a whole slew of social media sites, it just stopped working correctly a couple of weeks ago. The only sharing buttons that seem to be affected are FB and Twitter. Now when I try to share to Twitter, I get an error message in a red box that says “Sorry, we did something wrong!” and it simply doesn’t post to Twitter.

FB is even more screwy. When the issue started, it was primarily with the featured image not showing up with the blog post on FB. Sometimes the image was just a big blank space, sometimes it would have the blog description but other times it would have only the title with no description text, and sometimes the image would pull in one of several photos that I was currently using or had used in the past as my main blog image in the image widget on my content sidebar.

After contacting Jetpack Support for help, I was instructed to install the plugin Always Use Open Graph With Jetpack. I did, ran it through the scraper, and publicized 4 blogs to my FB page. Three showed up correctly, one didn’t. This is the blog that failed to post to FB:
    http://twosmallpotatoes.com/index.php/2015/05/11/trummelbach-falls-subterranean-glacial-unforgettable/
Unfortunately, I deleted the post from my FB so I don’t have a link to show that. The next blog I posted after that was brand new and also failed to post with featured image. I deleted that as well since it looks bad on my FB.

Jetpack Tech Support confirmed that Publicize is having some issues now and they’re working on it. The suggestions were to either stop using that plugin and switch to the All-in-One-SEO plugin or to make sure the featured image is also in the content to make sure that image shows up once publicized. Ironically, both blogs that failed to publish the featured image also had that same image in the content.

Today I deactivated Always Use Open Graph With Jetpack (should I delete it altogether?) and spent a couple hours tweaking the settings on All-in-One-SEO, but the posts still fail to publish with the featured image. I finally gave up and just copied the URL of the more recent blogs and posted them manually to FB. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Two-Small-Potatoes/971012869598961
With the old post, even this didn’t work – it only pulled in the default image.

A final issue is that I had previously also been using Publicize to automatically post new blogs to just FB and Twitter. That has since stopped working altogether. When I post a new blog, nothing happens on Twitter or FB.

Any help would be much appreciated!!!
