That’s on our list of things to add! You can follow our progress here:
https://github.com/Automattic/jetpack/pull/2069Thanks for the feedback!
Hi there Jeremy!
Is there any news on this new feature? I really like the clean look of Jetpack’s “icon + text” style buttons, but I’m missing a Facebook like button (like everyone else it seems…). I tried following this great tutorial by @cozbaldwin but the plugin code seems to have changed since I can’t find the block of code that he mentions. Also, it’s still not clear to me if these changes can be applied to the icon + text style of the buttons or only the official style buttons. Can you give me a nod in the right direction? Many thanks!
@larabrus Since you want the clean look of the “icon + text” buttons, that tutorial won’t help you.
Instead, try installing this small plugin I just created:
http://i.wpne.ws/dInaGreat thanks Jeremy! Do I need to upload those files in the Jetpack sharedaddy folder or simply in the Jetpack plugin folder? Thanks again!
You do not need to edit the Jetpack plugin. In fact, I would recommend against editing plugin files in general, regardless of the plugin, as it means that your changes will be lost as soon as you update the plugin.
You can install my plugin by going to Plugins > Add New > Upload in your dashboard, and upload the zip file I posted above. Once the plugin is activated, it will add a new “Facebook Like & Share” option to the list of available services under Settings > Sharing in your dashboard.
Thanks, I just added the zip file to the plugins. However, for some reason I can’t locate the new options and instead I get this notification: To use the FB Like & Share button for Jetpack, you’ll need to install and activate Jetpack first, and activate the Sharing module. What step am I missing here since I have Jetpack installed and working and everything… Sorry again!
Do you use a caching plugin on your site? If so, could you try to flush your site’s cache, and let me know how it goes?
Yes I’m using a caching plugin, but flushing the cache didn’t do the trick unfortunately…
Could you let me know what other plugins are currently active on your site?
Yes of course. Antispam Bee, Autoptimize, BJ Lazy Load, Easy Bootstrap Shortcode, EWWW Image Optimizer, Featured Images in RSS w/ Size and Position, Google Analyticator, Instagram Slider Widget, Jetpack, Limit Login Attempts, List Category Posts, NoSpamNX, Pinterest RSS, Rename wp-login, Simple Social Icons, WP Super Cache, WP Sweep, Yoast.
That’s it.
could be autoptimize, as this is JS-based. try with http://your.url/?ao_noptimize=1 to see if it works. if it does work that way, you can add
facebook-jssdkto the comma-seperated JS optimization exclusion-list and all should be fine.have fun!
frank (ao dev)Are you trying to add the plugin to this site?
If so, I can’t seem to see my plugin on your site at the moment:
http://www.theaddictedtraveller.com/wp-content/plugins/like-share-facebook/readme.txtNo, it’s this site.
I’ll try to find out if Autoptimeze has anything to do with it and let you know how that turns out. Thanks!
The plugin doesn’t appear to be on that site either:
http://www.littlelareyloves.com/wp-content/plugins/like-share-facebook/readme.txtCould you try to install it again?
Hi Jeremy!
deleted the files and installed it again and now I can see the button under the sharing settings. So far so good :). The only question that remains is how can I tweak this button so that it has the same look as the other icon+text only buttons (the grey ones)?
Thanks again!!
